The challenge
Registering numerous parameters from different independent sources on board a vehicle under test with a system that can be configured and controlled remotely without requiring an operator in tow, continuously acquiring the expected data and storing it during special conditions, ensuring the typical reliability of a system unmanned stand-alone.
The solution
Realize an instrument that can be installed on board the vehicle, combining compactness, robustness and modularity with an industrial computer architecture, thus being able to use software solutions in a 32 bit Windows environment. In particular, a package consisting of a program residing in the instrument has been developed and another one that can be installed in an office computer equipped with a connection to the telephone line; by means of appropriate electronic interfaces and PCMCIA cards it is possible to acquire all the different types of signals envisaged, while a dual band GSM modem allows remote connection and management of the system.
