Data acquisition and control in the laboratory for spectrographic experiments

A software program for the control of experiments conducted in the laboratory was developed at the Department F.R.A.E. of the CNR of Bologna.

These experiments consist in the excitation of some samples with a laser beam and therefore in the acquisition of a series of absorption spectra at different delay times with respect to the excitation time; the spectra obtained by passing the light through a monochromator, are acquired through a high sensitivity CCD sensor, while the delays are generated by lengthening the optical path of the laser with a series of motorized mirrors.

The software is able to communicate with the sensor via a controller on the PCI bus and the mirror movement via RS232, to synchronize the operations of the two devices and to save the acquired spectra for further processing.
